ADOPTION UPDATE! 🧡 Baba and Tamacti were relinquished to the Baldwin Park Animal Care Center in CA in June 2021. Arlene Hall, a Registered Veterinary Technician for our LA Kitten Foster Program, remembers the pair’s personality—and Baba’s need for medical intervention—and selected them for our foster program. “Baba had an untreated, severe respiratory infection,” says Arlene. “We try to help as many kittens with medical or behavior challenges as we can.” They determined the most humane option would be to remove both of Baba's eyes due to the previously untreated infection, and performed a enucleation surgery. Afterward, Gal Z., an ASPCA foster since 2018, took care of the pair for six months. Gal’s husband named them after characters in an Apple television program. Gal reports that Baba was always friendly, relaxed and curious, while Tamacti was more cautious. “They love to play together,” she says. “Baba calls Tam when he wants him, and Tam comes running. Tam is more of a lap cat. But they’re very interested in each other.” When Gal and Orpaz left for vacation in December, the bonded brothers were placed with another foster caregiver. Their final foster was Jessica L., who stepped in for a month before the pair was adopted in January. When Mary M. glimpsed a Facebook video of Baba and Tamacti, who were available for adoption, she says her “heart just melted." “I said, ‘They’re kittens, and I’m 70, and they will outlive me.’ But I couldn’t stop thinking about them.” After a virtual meet-and-greet with their foster, Jessica, Mary decided to adopt them that day. Because Mary once owned a blind cat, she knew how to prepare and the brothers quickly adjusted to her home in California’s Antelope Valley. Baba committed the landscape of Mary’s house to memory. “He is so brave it’s amazing,” Mary says. “It’s like he had been here forever. His brother Tam—at 17 lbs.—is a big gentle giant" says Mary. For anyone considering a blind pet, Mary says the joy of helping an animal in need is worth the extra effort. “I hope we all live a long time. These two are the loves of my life.” Visit our link in bio to learn how you can help cats in need! 😻 #bondedcats #catsofig #aspca
