Mr. Newsom Goes to Washington: Gov. @gavinnewsom said he’s frustrated with Republicans and Democrats. California’s Governor is tired of conservatives criticizing the state that is the worlds fifth largest economy, and rolling back rights. And he’s irked that his own national party isn’t fighting harder in the culture war. In a speech after accepting an education innovation award on behalf of California from the Education Commission of the States, the Governor blasted red-state efforts to ban books, pass policies dubbed “Don’t Say Gay” laws by their opponents and limit education about race in public schools. In an interview with The Times, Newsom said actions of governors like DeSantis and Greg Abbott in Texas are anathema to everything California stands for. The Governor’s trip to DC seemed fairly tight on time with him bouncing between taking meetings with White House officials and members of Congress, among others. Link in Bio.
