When choosing playthings for your child, it’s a good idea to try to match their current interests and skill. 🌈 However, once your little one seems ready to move on from the obvious ways to play with a toy, consider creative ways to engage with it and its parts. You may be able to extend its life while continuing to further your little one’s evolving development. ✨ For example, the Nesting Stacking Dripdrop Cups, available at select Target stores or as part of The Inspector Play Kit for 7- to 8-month-olds, might appeal to your child’s love of building towers or nesting containers. ❤️ Such work calls for visual discrimination, fine motor skills, and hand-eye coordination. But, as @themontessorislp demonstrates in this video, these cups can also support language development! As you and your child engage with the cups, tie hands-on discoveries to key words to build vocabulary. You can hold the largest cup next to the smallest, and identify them as, “big,” and “small.” As your child practices nesting the cups, you can offer the words, “in,” and “out.” When your little one stacks them to make a tower and knocks it down, use words like, “tall,” “boom!” and “down.” This also supports bonding. 🥰 While stacking cups independently can build your little one’s focus and confidence, joining in their play deepens the connection between the two of you. #LoveveryBaby #LanguageSkills #Bonding #Lovevery
