my #mancrush
is our beautiful brother 20 year old Donovan Lewis. our brother was shot and killed in Columbus, Ohio. Donovan was shot while he was still sleeping in his bed. his family said, he had his challenges in life, but he was a very good person and loved very much. Donovan was unarmed, the officer who took his life is now on paid leave. his mother and father joined protesters and spoke tearfully and painfully about the lost of their son. his mom said Donovan wanted to be loved and loved people unconditionally. I wonder if hearing this scenario reminds you of another one of our siblings who was killed while sleeping in bed in their home, our sister Breonna Taylor, and also not even two months ago, 45 minutes from Columbus, Ohio, the police in Akron shot our OTHER brother Jayland Walker 60+ times. These patterns and these stories and these tragedies have clear commonalities and no coincidences, if you don’t get to that point where you’re calling this for what it is, then don’t get in the way of the fight that many of us have to bear, I know that we so often say how many times can we do this? how many posts can we make? how many protests can we attend? how many communities can we help? there is no answer to any of these questions because we’re busy asking how do we simply stay alive. Donovan, hey brother, I lové you, we lové you, we will never forget you.
sending love to our people and allies in Columbus, let me know if you need anything.
