Introducing 2022 AIM Fellow Katherine Miranda @katmiranda_ink. Over the next two weeks, we will dedicate a post a day to introducing the 14 members of our current AIM Fellowship cohort. Read more below and click the link in our bio to learn more about Katherine. Katherine (They/He) Miranda is a Latinx, non-binary artist born, raised and based in the Bronx. Drawing from their mixed Mexican, Puerto Rican and American heritage, they use discarded objects to create work that acts as a reflection, an investigation and an homage to their history and ancestry. They were previously a 2021 New York Community Trust Van Lier Fellow at Wave Hill Gardens where they held their first solo show, I Answer Back. Miranda’s work has been exhibited in places such as Bronx Council of the Arts, The Point CDC, BAAD!, The Yard: Williamsburg and Brooklyn College. Miranda has also been featured on News 12, BronxNet, NBC New York, Pix 11 News and The New York Times. They received their BFA from Macaulay Honors at Brooklyn College. Artworks (in order of appearance): "Something Inside Them is Growing (Hacia Adelante Seguirás)", 2022 Image transfer, acrylic, charcoal, watercolor and stickers on Café Bustelo "Edith and the Fruit of Knowledge", 2021 Image transfer and acrylic on Café Bustelo "I Answer Back", 2021 Mixed-media site specific installation at Wave Hill Photo credit: Stefan Hagen #aimfellow2022 #aimbxma #bronxmuseum
