As a mental health professional, I am trained to advocate for the hurt, marginalized, and harmed. My ethical code requires that I do no harm but I believe it goes beyond that. This is why I am always learning and trying to humble myself to lived experiences that I don’t have intimate insight into. Because people are experts of their experiences and how it impacts mental health. When @pinkmantaray asked me to join this campaign, I said yes because trans kids and lives are still under attack. So if I can use this space to share education and offerings of others I will try my best to do so. Trans folks deserve to feel safe, valued and honored. // All throughout June, companies put up rainbows and people wear “LOVE IS LOVE” t-shirts, supposedly celebrating trans and queer people. But nearly one month has passed since June ended and there are still several states criminalizing gender-affirming healthcare for trans youth, mandating outing trans and queer kids in schools, and 18+ states that have banned trans kids from youth sports. Our allyship cannot end when Pride Month does. Trans people are trans all year round. Our allyship should be here all year round, too. Swipe through for some action items from @pinkmantaray that are crucial to our allyship.
