I remember the day I bought my first camera and a lens. I spent all the cash I had in my account that I was saving up. It hurt. I told myself if this passion don’t work out at least I can say I tried because to be honest I knew I was missing something in my life. I was heavily invested into my fitness but taking pictures was always in the back of my mind. So I did it in 2015...and I haven’t looked back since. Full time wedding photographer. Content creator. Entrepreneur. I say all this just to prove a point that it’s possible but you have to be willing to take action. You have to be willing to bet on yourself. Did spending all that money buying my first camera hurt like hell. Yes. I barely could afford my mortgage because at the time all my money was tied up in real estate (which was another risk vs reward that I took when I was only 21). No matter your situation get after it. I didn’t go to school for this. I didn’t have any formal training. I watched YouTube, I went out and did photo shoots with my friends, coworkers, and whoever was willing to let me shoot them. I found a niche passion in weddings and couples so I narrowed my focus down & then started working with brands so I developed a skill in videography. Every time I didn’t know how to do something I put myself in a situation to force myself to learn it. Sink or swim. Countless hours in the office. Countless hours watching other people teach the transitions or color grading or what camera gear to buy. There is so much unknown but again you have to go out and actually do the work. Try the thing. Mess up. Get your reps in. Build your brand...worry about the money later. If your good and your passionate & you care more about your clients than you care about the money...you’ll have so many people lining up to give you money for your services you won’t know what to do with it. Focus on what you can do for your ideal client not how much money they need to give you. Idk where content creator / wedding photographer falls on the scale for average income in 2022 but I know for a fact it’s up there but only if you don’t make that your priority. Prioritize your skill, the art, the relationships, & what you do for others.
