I call this series of photos ‘Whale sharks posing with animals that annoy them’! Today I saw a turtle boop a whale shark and while the turtle was not even surprised the whale shark banked sideways and sped off like they do when threatened by a predator. One of the reasons I love swimming with them is their kind of comical behavior haha especially around other marine animals that obviously they don’t like. Fun Fact: Whale sharks have amour, the skin on their back is 15cm thick and covered in small enamel scales (dermal denticles) which are like tiny backward facing teeth. Their skin has amazing healing abilities and can recover from pretty severe injury. So when they’re threatened by something they simply bank sideways showing their back toward the threat thus protecting themselves.
