It’s Perinatal Mental Health Week and I wanted to share a beautiful episode with you. In episode 243 I spoke to Em about her experience of postnatal depression and PTSD.
Em was four months postpartum when she disclosed her sadness to her GP and was subsequently diagnosed with PND and PTSD. Three days later she walked into the Perinatal Mental Health Unit at Mitcham Private Hospital. It was a life changing experience for her and she shares her story in the hope that she can spread the word about the essential postpartum support resources that are available (even if they are notoriously difficult to find).
We need more conversations about mental health in pregnancy and motherhood because we all know that it can be an incredibly intense and trying experience. And if you feel like you’re not coping and you need some extra help and guidance? Reach out for specialised mental health support. Start with your GP or reach out to @cope.org.au or @pandanational
