Ever heard of a bat box!? They’re a simple, cost effective, environmentally friendly way of lowering the mosquito population in your yard and helping native bats. Essentially their design makes them almost irresistible to bats as a daily roosting location, so when the sun starts to go down they’ll emerge right in your yard looking for an easy meal of tiny bugs flying around. If your yard is anything like my yard, a good portion of those flying insects will be mosquitoes 🦟🙅🏻‍♂️ *UPDATE- some commenters pointed me to new resources, and mounting to side of house is best and dark color only recommended in moderate climates (like where I live) Will it completely eliminate mosquitoes? No, but pest management is all about trying every practical and sustainable control method first before resorting to chemicals. Almost every mosquito fogging ‘pest control’ actually kills a huuuge amount of native bugs in your yard, bugs that are not only part of the ecosystem but also serve as critical food for nesting birds (and bats!). Excited to see who decides to live here🦇
