Women in Iran, pre 1979 revolution to today. A country that went from a Monarchy to an Islamic regime. For decades, Iranian people have been fighting for independence, democracy, and advancement. What they got was oppression, regression and systemic misogyny. Their government is trying to silence them. Iranians are protesting in the streets, with many killed by police, to have their voices heard. I want to amplify their voices, not only because I’m the child of immigrant Iranian parents, have family in Iran, and am a dual citizen of Iran and America, but because this is a fight for basic human rights and freedom for all.
