I have realized this last week when I travelled to London that it is important to wander outside your comfort zone from time to time. This is what keeps the « fears of living life » at bay. What the heck am I trying to say? When you get stuck with a comfortable routine, life can quietly cease to be an adventure. Now mind you, adventure is not what everyone seeks, but adventuring outside that inner circle you have created keeps the fear of the unknown away. I had a great trip to London. Truly I did. However, I was finding it too comfortable to return to my hotel room at night whereas normally I would go to my favorite dining spot next to my hotel.... @scottsmayfair. I like to sit at the bar and order some oysters and have a really good glass of white wine. Great for people watching. At one point, I found myself feeling shy about walking through the door. Don’t know why. Then I took a deep breath and decided to ignore the overall feeling of being too self conscious of entering and sitting there alone....in Scott’s with only couples and groups around me. I walked in.....asked to be seated at the bar and had my usual. When I was ready to leave, I honestly felt like I was leaving with more confidence than I had come in with. So much stressful emotion going on, but I did not give myself the right to go hide in my hotel room. May sound silly...my little story of being fearful....but it was so real to me the other night. Something new for me. This is when I realized I needed to resuscitate my independent spirit that had unknowingly taken a backseat to my old adventurous self. I prefer the old me. So I will keep an eye on her and nurture her a bit more. You must do the same. Adventure out of that comfort zone. Don’t get stuck and be something less of your more joyful self.
