‘I am you’ — a project by Lidewij Mulder that captures the beauty of her grandmother, Wilhelmina (or oma Mientje as Lidewij dearly refers). “My grandmother is super youthful and mischievous. She taught me everything about how important it is to be independent, especially as a woman. She's been fighting for equality ever since she was a child, which I truly admire. At the same time, she's vulnerable. She turned 84 this summer and lives alone. She will never admit it and “still feels 18 years old” inside her head. It's just the body that ''doesn't play along sometimes''. Now that I'm older, I'm getting to know her better as a woman, and not only as my grandmother. I wanted to capture her in all her vulnerability, which at the same time, is her strength.”
