(...) The vision I had for this was a sort of take on mother earth- I wanted the wildness of the wind blowing through the barley to balance the tenderness of nurturing a baby. For me as well the hair over her face giving anonymity makes it all the more powerful (unfortunately we do tend to lose ourselves a little as mothers) and draws your gaze. The colours are deliberately chosen- the golden colour dress matched the barley field and her skin tone, (I use a lot of monochromatic tones in my work).
