PARIS ASS BOOK FAIR 3—5 juin Lafayette Anticipations – En avril 2020, un appel international très médiatisé visant à empêcher la vente privée de Prospect Cottage, l’ultime demeure de Derek Jarman, a atteint son objectif de réunir 3,5 millions de livres sterling en seulement dix semaines. Le succès viral de cette campagne soulève de nombreuses questions concernant non seulement l’héritage actif de l’artiste et de ses archives, mais aussi de l’épidémie du VIH-Sida elle-même. Qu’est-ce qui rend une archive « queer » ? Qu’est-ce qui est inclus et exclu – gardé en mémoire ou oublié – et comment ? En se concentrant sur les peintures de Jarman et la récente rétrospective présentée au Crédac, cette présentation examine les complications qu’entraîne notre actuelle fièvre jarmanienne. The viral success of this campaign raises many questions regarding the active legacies of not only the artist and the archive, but of the AIDS epidemic itself. What makes an archive “queer”? What is included and excluded—remembered or forgotten—and how? With a focus on Jarman’s painting and the recent retrospective at Le Crédac, this presentation considers the complications that arise amidst this moment of Jarmania.
