We're so honored that artist @susanmbchen chose to capture four of Apex's high school mentoring pairs in this gorgeous painting, now on view at @thealdrich until January 8, 2023 as part of 52 Artists: A Feminist Milestone. "An Afternoon Making Quaranzines with Apex for Youth" represents a zine-making workshop that Susan observed and participated in last fall. After Susan finished the piece, she invited our mentees to visit her studio and learn more about her works in progress. Susan's artistic practice reacts to the lack of Asian/Asian American representation in portraiture in Western art institutions, and we're so proud that Apex's youth can be a part of this tide change.
