Happy Elvis Week ⚡️There is some incredible programming over at @visitgraceland this week including Elvis Tribute Artist Shows, Throwback Mansion tours, Movie Screenings, Gospel Brunches and much more! In honor of Elvis Week, here are some quick fun facts: ⚡️ Elvis bought the Mansion in 1957 for $102,500 when he was only 22 years old. *about $900k in today’s money ⚡️ Graceland is the 2nd most visited residential house in the country, second only to the White House. ⚡️ Elvis Presley's iconic Pink Cadillac was a 1955 Cadillac Fleetwood that he gave as a gift to his mother, Gladys. Although she didn’t have a drivers license so it was mostly symbolic. ⚡️ Elvis and his friends were big fans of golf carts and they were often being ridden on front lawn. ⚡️ Elvis’ intricately embroidered and jeweled jumpsuits weighed anywhere from 25-75 pounds! ⚡️ The Upstairs is off limits. Only Priscilla, Lisa Marie and the Graceland curator are allow upstairs. ⚡️ The jungle room’s famous tiki man cave aesthetic is said to come from Elvis’ fondness for his time spent in Hawaii. ⚡️ Elvis got the idea for the TV room after hearing that President Lyndon Johnson had three tv sets to keep up with all the major network newscasts at once. ⚡️ Graceland's Meditation Garden is the final resting place for Elvis, along with his family. The gates open from 7:30-8:30 everyday and allow visitors to pay respects at the Meditation Garden.
