Early this morning we laid our beautiful Bailey to rest. For anyone that knows my family, you know how special he is to so many. I never thought watching a dog grow old would be so hard and honestly, I didn’t prepare myself for when I would have to say goodbye. As a child I was born so allergic to everything in the external world I had to be put in an oxygen tent just to breathe. Animals, dogs in particular were something doctors told my parents I could never be around. For years I struggled with allergies and developed almost an aversion to pets because of it. Bailey changed all of that - my relationship began with him outdoors and, over time through exposure, I was able to spend time with our dogs comfortably indoors. 12 years later I have a dog of my own, his daughter. He changed my life. He gave us Grey. He made me feel like a more whole person because I could finally love and appreciate something I’d been longing for my entire life. Thank you Bailey.
