For decades, Agnes Gund has been regarded as one of the most impactful philanthropists in the art world. In 2017, Gund sold a piece from her personal collection, Roy Lichtenstein’s ‘Masterpiece,’ and donated $100 million of the proceeds to launch the Art for Justice Fund—a project dedicated to reducing the US prison population and reforming the criminal justice system. “Art for Justice is disrupting mass incarceration through our support to artists and policy advocates working together to transform our criminal legal system and address its underlying racial bias,” Gund says in W’s annual Originals Portfolio. “We’re fighting the very policies that lead to high prison populations in the first place.” At the link in bio Gund shares her philosophy of philanthropy and linking up with MacKenzie Scott in the fight against injustice.
