Tiffany grew up in Honduras surrounded by violence and hatred towards the transgender community. From a young age, she felt like she was hiding from who she was. Tiffany knew she had to get away and left Honduras looking for a safe place that she could call home. Tiffany’s journey led her down an uncertain path as she struggled to find the safe home she dreamt of, and she ended up in Mexico. She learnt to survive through sex work and experienced a horrific ordeal in 2021 when she was kidnapped for more than nine months by a human trafficking network. In January of this year after escaping, Tiffany travelled to the U.S. with support from La Casa de Colores, an association that collaborates with our partners at the @translatinacoalition to support the trans-migrant community. Tiffany was referred to the TransLatin@ Coalition and was welcomed into transitional housing and provided with a place to live, food, legal advice and information about staying safe. Tiffany now feels empowered. She no longer wants to run for her life and can embrace who she truly is. Click the link in our bio to read her story.
