Natural in a Plastic World (2022) ft. @justinjedlica When I first pitched this shoot to Justin, I didn’t have to say much before he was onboard. Justin was one of my first friends when I got to LA. We met while out in West Hollywood and I was surprised by how laidback and kind he was. In a new city where the pretentious and high strung reign supreme, the proclaimed “Human Ken Doll” was breath of fresh air. He wasn’t shy to tell me about his past and was candid when we related our upbringings. I understood him in ways I didn’t initially expect to from someone that’s often deemed purely plastic by the general public. When I had trouble finding a good, affordable apartment in LA (very much so just a concept here rather than a reality), Justin offered to rent one of his spare bedrooms to me. I ended up elsewhere but the gesture was so kind at a time when I wasn’t sure of anything, much less so of where I would end up living. I wanted to shoot Justin in the light that I knew him: kind, warm, eccentric yet real. I hope that in this, you too see Justin as someone Natural in a Plastic World.
