In the morning my grandmother or aunts would make the very dumplings we would have later. We were eating our luck and they wanted us to have plenty. Midday we would gather at my uncle’s house and eat tteokmanduguk, a rice cake and dumpling soup, on the floor. While most people either put dumplings or rice cakes in their soup, my family did both —they wanted to double our luck—plus we like to eat. Their dumplings were fat with wealth. Second helping were heavily encouraged. 🧧Anyways I miss my grandma and my hair is greasy.
