This unassuming shop is legendary for its Korean wood-roasted chicken stuffed with glutinous rice! I first heard about Hannam Roast Chicken a few years ago and I immediately added it to my food bucket list. Hannam Roast Chicken (📍12 Daesagwan-ro 34-gil, Yongsan District, Seoul, South Korea) essentially offers a wood-roasted version of Korean ginseng chicken soup, or samgyetang,. The chickens are marinated with medicinal herbs and while the chickens are tasty, I think the best part was the rice which included garlic, ginseng, jujube, and gingko nuts. IThe juices of the chicken amplify the earthy and nutty flavors of the rice. Since the chicken isn’t super salty, it pairs great with their special mustard sauce and chili sauce. Eating it with kimchi and pickled daikon adds a different layer as well. This is was one of my favorite meals in Seoul. Hearty... comforting..
