I’ve finished eleven 100-mile races now, and had my butt kicked by a few more that I did not finish. One consistent part in each of those races was that @jennyjoyes crewed for me, and often paced me at the end when things have gotten inevitably hard. Needless to say, she has been a rock in all of my best racing experiences. Now, she’s pondered the idea of running 100-miles for awhile now, but it does take a certain kind of mojo and fitness to make it happen. I’ve always known she was up for it, but for some reason this was the year and @cascadecrest100 was the race. Running 100-miles is always tough, and Jenny was gritty, stubborn, and even patient with my terrible jokes and pathetic efforts at entertaining her for 11-hours straight. Nonetheless she persevered having me as a pacer as well as that beautiful Cascade Crest course—and certainly left everyone around her completely inspired.
