My favorite part about working in bars has always been the people. My other favorite part has been just being alone, cleaning, and singing at the top of my lungs, in an empty space. The most difficult challenge with this whole thing for me has not been the stress of ownership, or fear of losing my business, but more just not being able to see people, and serve my community. Maybe I can’t have people in here right now, but at least I still have these moments, and can pretend like I’m setting up for service. It’s the only bit of normalcy I really have. I know I will get the chance to have people sit at my bar again some day, I just don’t know when, and that’s okay.
