I know it may seem convenient to just rip off hang nails, especially when you are out and about. Please refrain from doing so. 1- It is painful. 2- Doing so, can cause damage not only to your fingers but to nails too. Ripping off hang nails can cause additional skin to be pulled off, opening up inner layers to bacteria and infection. To properly remove hang nails, make sure your hands are clean and gentle cut the excess skin from the hang nail with a sterilized nail clipper. Having moisturized cuticles and hands is one way to avoid getting hang nails.
