I always tell athletes that I work with to believe in themselves and trust the process. I had to remind myself of that daily over the past two and a half months as I clawed my way back to fitness. Some days it was hard to do this, but the only way to the finish line is to keep moving forward so that is what I did. El Vaquero Loco was a great test to see if I’m ready for whatever comes next, and I’m really pleased with a first place finish and even more stoked about a solid time under exceedingly drippy conditions. I even avoided emotional meltdowns twice when other races carelessly whacked me with their poles 🤣! Seriously though, please don’t run with those things flailing about!
