I finally got around to visit San Diego’s Museum of Photographic Arts where @mopasd store front is selling MY ART 🥹 - on sale now in MOPA & online 🫶🏼✨ !!️ While this is an amazing accomplishment for me as a self-taught, analog photographer from South Bay, with no private art school background or institutional art affiliation, I can’t stress enough that I - a white Latina - am the first of my extremely talented friends to be celebrated by a museum in San Diego...! My friends - who are womxn of color, who are BlPOC, who are part of the LGBTQ & NB communities, and who are grossly underpaid, overworked, overlooked, and who are BEYOND inspirational, talented and deserving (period)! 🌹 I’d like to see MOPASD and all historically white institutions to make a much harder effort to dig deeper within their communities and represent less rich white artists, white latinex’s and more of those mentioned above who just need ONE opportunity to be seen and heard.
