What a month for Nina Chanel Abney, who has projects on view across the country. 1️⃣➡️2️⃣ At New York's Lincoln Center, Abney's façade for the New York Philharmonic's new David Geffen Hall is now visible to concert-goers and the public alike. "San Juan Heal" pays homage to San Juan Hill. In the 1940s and '50s, this diverse, working-class neighborhood—home to some of the largest Black and Puerto Rican populations in New York City in the first half of the twentieth century—was forcibly displaced to make way for redevelopment, including what would become Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts. Nina Chanel Abney · "San Juan Heal" (2022) Latex ink and vinyl mounted on glass · Commissioned by Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts in collaboration with The Studio Museum in Harlem and Public Art Fund · Photo: Nicholas Knight, courtesy Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, The Studio Museum in Harlem, and Public Art Fund. 3️⃣➡️4️⃣ At Pace Prints' new 536 West 22nd Street Gallery, Abney's exhibition "Framily Ties / You Win Some, You Lose Some" is on view through November 12. 5️⃣➡️6️⃣ In Seattle, the Henry Art Gallery is presenting the West Coast leg of Abney's "Fishing Was His Life" traveling exhibition, which originated at the Gordon Parks Foundation and was created in Pace Prints' studios. "Nina Chanel Abney: Fishing Was His Life" is on view through March 5, 2023 at the Henry Art Gallery, 15th Ave NE & NE 41st St Seattle. Photo by Nina Bozicnik, courtesy of the Henry Art Gallery. More info on all projects at link in bio. #ninachanelabney #publicart #sanjuanheal #sanjuanhill #paceprints #536w22 #framilyties #art #collectprints
