What would an angel say? (The devil wants to know) 👹
Acrylic on wood
I am ambidextrous. My dominant hand is my right hand. I realized this in my early 20’s, after a series of intrusive thoughts had me convinced I was going to lose my right hand. I began using my left hand to “assist” in drawings and paintings to prep for the day when I lost my right hand (spoiler...I never lost my right hand). It came easier than expected, and I now find myself deferring to my left hand for certain angles and jobs. Sometimes (not all the time) it gets the job done better than the right. I thought this would be a really fun piece to alternate hands with. I feel something in my brain alternate when alternate hands. Some other part of my mind is engaged. I tried to show this in my video but I ran into a problem that I had not considered- holding the phone with my right hand and painting with the left proved to be difficult; I never film with my right hand and I couldn’t find the angle, it was clumsy, I even dropped my phone into my wet palette several times. Maybe someday I’ll recruit someone to film me while painting or drawing with both hands.
