Delighted to be appointed as Ambassador to the Royal Photographic Society alongside my dear friend and exquisite photographer Carolyn Mendelsohn! Here we are standing next to an ancient camera at the announcement in Bristol a few days ago! I met Carolyn through RPS and we worked together on the 'Generations' group show at Imperial War Museum last year. During the making of the project I was able to talk openly to Carolyn about the challenges of this project and she was so supportive. Carolyn gave a wonderful talk on Wednesday on how she took up photography after a career in theatre and how this still serves her well on photoshoots. She gave an overview of two recent projects, 'Being Inbetween' and 'Through Our Lens', both of which give a voice and platform to young people. I am inspired! To hear Carolyn's journey and to see how both projects gained momentum makes me want to push harder in my own work. Never thought all this would happen when I joined RPS four years ago!
