If there’s one thing that’s certain in the life of building a company—I guess, if there’s one thing that’s certain in life—it’s change, which is often growth, which is the stuff that evolution is made of. Change gets a bad rap: we’re programmed to hate it!!! Especially when there’s a lot of it, as there has been these past couple of years. But Glossier was founded on a huge belief in the present moment; that wherever you’re at in your journey, be it beauty or otherwise, recognize it—maybe even celebrate it. Today I am celebrating my friend and colleague Kyle Leahy, who I’ve decided to make Glossier’s next CEO. To be clear, I’m not going anywhere! Just able to focus more of my time as Founder (and now, Executive Chairwoman) on the areas that I love: product, creative, brand... anything that makes yours and my heart beat just a little bit faster. After I settle in to life welcoming this new little heart into existence, soon. Over the years, Glossier has championed people: I believe in the power of the individual, and deeply believe that everyone has unique gifts to offer the world in community with others. This belief is what’s made our team so special over the years, and it’s the recipe for continuing to change how the world sees beauty for decades to come. I am thrilled to partner with Kyle, who is exactly the kind of empathetic leader that all companies would do well to have in such a dynamic world, right now. I’m beaming ear-to-ear writing these words; it’s with a great deal of peace in my heart and optimism for the future of this brand that is, truly, only in its infancy—and means so much to so many.
