Now -> Then Official author photo and it’s all becoming so real 🥹 I asked my mom for a picture pre daca times. A time that felt so fight or flight, anxious, uncertain. There aren’t many pictures - we were too busy keeping our head down, working and trying to build something with a very uncertain path ahead. She sent me the picture on the right - walking into my college dorm for the first time and hoping for the best. Not knowing if I’d be able to finish my degree let alone use it. Everyone that knew me during that time knows this picture is very ‘me’. 😅 fast walking ahead, going a million miles an hour, always jumping from one thing to the next and a bit intense (lol) but most of all determined, disciplined & focused. Scrappy and didn’t take no for an answer. It’s the only mentality I knew and it’s what helped get me from undoc to somehow graduating college, and building a career in NYC from nothing. Im so proud of that girl. “The Other” takes you through that journey but also celebrates and helps anyone who finds themselves in that position of how to better own their power now.
