I thought I’d try one more cosy autumnal one before we head fully into festive season, and it couldn’t have been more perfect. Outstanding service, beautiful presentation, a floating tea stand, magically refilled portions of sandwiches (all brilliantly tasty too) and scrumptious patisserie including the stunning blueberry, white chocolate and pistachio Forest Delice! They also make their own praline for their choux pastry and it’s exquisite! Quite often, substitute Afternoon Tea pastries aren’t as exciting, but here, the pastries for alternative dietary requirements were just as creative and tasty as traditional options, with due credit to Executive Pastry Chef Emmanuel Bonneau (Bake Off: The Professionals Winner 2018). Fresh, warm scones are served with a signature rose petal jelly, strawberry jam, and a seasonally changing option: we had elderflower and gooseberries, and ginger is coming up next. There’s an extensive selection of teas by @cantontea, with great recommendations for pairings with each course, and you can try as many as you like! Top tips: make sure you sample the Apricot White and Lychee Rose Noir teas, and request a window table for an extra-cosy, relaxed experience!
