Aside from the great resignation and the era of layoffs that is currently happening, people are turning to social media now more than ever to make money.
GenZ is a generation that takes things into their own hands, they are the generation that is focused on paving a future that will thank them in 10-30 years down the road.
We have different causes that we are interested in, so that we create truly inclusive, spaces; we not only value and work towards diversity online and IRL but we are a generation that celebrates diversity.
GenZ creators are not only looking to make money online, they are looking to scale their influence digitally and IRL.
We use our platforms to garner influence around subjects, we have purchasing power thanks to short form video taking the reigns over images and graphics.
We are also seeing a lot of genz-ers diversify their streams of income, and promoting it across their platforms, such as a speaking tour, book deal, modeling, affiliate marketing, online assets, consulting and more.
The range in which people can profit from their platforms depends on their niche, their credibility (& verification), production value and their audience.
On average, your typical online creator/influencer will not build out a sustainable model for their business, because they are not thinking of their digital platform as one.
When they fail to diversify their online work, it is completely possible that the limelight getting them paid right now, may not a year to five years down the line.
The conversation about setting up an LLC, paying taxes, a lawyer, an accountant, etc is left out; therefore, inflating the way that creators are ACTUALLY able to support themselves and how much they make.
And because the industry is so young, we are seeing variability hold a huge stake in how much these creators are getting paid.
Not to say that won’t be more standardized over time, but for now there is too much going into it to pinpoint how much you can make and when.
