a year ago today she met me for drinks at a dive bar in minneapolis. two gin and tonics for her, two bourbon and cokes for me. we split waffle fries. i couldn’t wait to see her again. now we live in a beautiful old apartment 1,100 miles from where we had our first date. we ride to work together on a little motorcycle that’s 50 something years old. she works on the floor above me. we get to have lunch together every day. every morning i wake up next to my best friend. she can somehow turn every boring errand and chore into an adventure filled with bellyaching laughter. i couldn’t ask for anything more in the world than her companionship. i love you rebecca. photo by @michaeljspear
