2022 World Monuments Summit Sumayya Vally (@sumi_v), Founder and Principal of Counterspace and recent Member of the @worldmonumentsfund Britain Board of Directors was introduced to the WMF Community today where she gave the opening speech for the #WMFSummit programme honouring Elizabeth Alexander (@alexanderlizzy) American poet, essayist, playwright, and the president of the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation; Suzanne Deal Booth (@thegrandsuze) Founder and the Director of Friends of Heritage Preservation and Christian Louboutin(@louboutinworld), Founder, Designer and 2022 #HadrianGala Honoree. Vally currently serves as a @worldeconomicforum Young Global Leader and several boards through her interest in dynamic forms of archive, embodied heritage and supporting new networks of knowledge in the arts. As Artistic Director, Vally is currently working on curating the first Islamic Arts Biennale (@biennale_sa) taking place in Jeddah in 2023. She is currently collaborating on the design of the Ellen Johnson Sirleaf Presidential Center for Women and Development in Monrovia, Liberia, the first presidential library dedicated to a female head of state, where she will oversee the scenography, pavilions, and exhibition spaces. She is also working on a garden and gathering place commemorating the 5th Pan-African Congress held in Manchester, UK, in 1945.
