Happy birthday Andy Warhol! 🎨 Warhol was the son of immigrants who became an American icon. A shy gay man who became the hub of New York’s social scene, he was an artist who embraced consumerism, celebrity and the counterculture – changing modern art in the process. In this black and white poster of Warhol taken in 1982, he is seen in a detailed jacket, sunglasses, and his instantly identifiable silver wig. He had a known obsession with his appearance and the idea of celebrity, and this poster was plastered around the streets of New York in an act of self-promotion.
