Stills from the Proto-canceled Comme des Garçons Homme Plus Autumn Winter 1995 collection, 'Sleep', in which a group of reactionary fashion critics tried to censor Rei Kawakubo for supposedly using death-camp dog whistles. The footprint patterns, numerals, and striped pajamas prevalent on several of the garments from the collection were misinterpreted and immediately called out for appropriating holocaust imagery. The pajamas were subsequently pulled from boutiques as an act of reconciliation. The initial intent of the presentation was to bring back loungewear into men's dressing. The models (according to spectators) looked more like night skulking dormitory boys or eccentric patients in a hospital ward. When pressed to comment, Rei Kawakubo responded, “There is no meaning."
