In honor of the Waldorf Astoria's 90th anniversary on Park Avenue, we introduced “Waldorf Stories,” a website where the oral history of the world’s most famous hotel is documented through stories told by the people that lived them—the guests, visitors, and hotel staff who have experienced special moments at the legendary building. Gary Merjian worked at the Waldorf Astoria for 14 years, but this is a love story. During his time at the Waldorf he met idols such as Frank Sinatra, every living President and countless heads of state. But, most importantly, he met his wife, Heidi. They were married at the Waldorf Astoria in 1989 and can’t wait to return. For his winning story, Gary will receive a “Weekend at the Waldorf” for two: an opportunity to be one of the first guests to stay at the hotel when it reopens.
