Pretty soon after my father passed in 2014, my mother slowly started her downward spiral into the throes of dementia. Every time I see her it presents new challenges and in addition has caused a multitude of challenges within my family. But I’m forever grateful that when she sees me that it makes her happy because the dynamic could’ve been a lot different. Somewhere deep down inside she still knows.. It’s a mothers instinct.
