The Passion Play at Oberammergau • Every ten years since 1632, a cast of *thousands* of villagers in a small Bavarian town puts on a passion play. I'm so happy we got to see it before it ends next week for another decade! The highlight for me was the "living photographs": group tableaux depicting scenes from the old testament (scroll to see a small selection). Outstanding sets, palettes and blocking! Very well done, and the entire cast of untrained actors including local kids and elders never feels anything less than top pros! We were given a backstage tour by Jesus, Nicodemus and the Mayor!
