Robert Knoke: Drawings of Casey Spooner & AA Bronson The new exhibition showcases German artist Robert Knoke (@robertknoke) who has gained worldwide recognition over the past 20 years for his large-scale drawings of his friends & peers shaping contemporary culture. Knoke challenges traditional styles of portraiture and its role in an era dominated by photography, combining elements of realism and abstraction to represent what cannot be seen by the eye. Featuring a series of 30 erotic drawings of artist Casey Spooner (@caseyspooner) on SPOONER2020 stationary - made in tandem with Spooner’s 2020 presidential campaign - that sparks fantasies of a homosexual President and challenges our perception of what a world leader could look like in a political landscape overlapped with celebrity culture. Exhibited in parallel is a large-scale drawing of artist and queer icon AA Bronson (@aa_bronson) The two met in the New York City art scene in the early 2000’s and Knoke describes him as a “legend of art and culture.” On view at @cultureeditgallery in Los Angeles until Nov. 4.
