Whether a family barbecue in the park or a lunch made with love to offer during outreach, food can be a powerful entryway to building connections and community. A heartening example of that —tomorrow’s Reseda renters’ rights workshop (10 AM-12 PM 18141 Valerio St. Reseda, California 91335 stayhousedla.org/workshops).
Since parts of the wonderful neighborhood of Reseda were drawn into our district at the beginning of this year, we’ve had the pleasure of partnering with @power.la and other incredible supporting organizations on several pop-up pantries at Garden Grove Elementary.
In addition to providing free produce and shelf-stable groceries to Reseda residents — many of whom are renters — POWER has led on surveying and providing resources about renters’ issues, including harassment and illegal evictions, at each pantry.
To assist and empower residents with tools to address these issues, POWER is hosting an in-person renters’ rights workshop in partnership with @stayhousedla TOMORROW at 10 AM at Garden Grove — following up on the initial connection made with a bag of groceries.
Tomorrow’s workshop is FREE and open to anyone who is looking for assistance in both English and Spanish. RSVP by visiting stayhousedla.org/workshops and clicking the September 10 ‘Know Your Tenant Rights and Protections!’ link.
