It is Black Maternal Health Week (April 11-17), and PPLA recognizes today and every day that generations of systemic, environmental, and interpersonal racism have led to a maternal health crisis in the U.S. Black women are three to four times more likely to die from pregnancy-related causes than white women even as Black women continue to make great strides as valued leaders within and beyond their communities. We all must do more to fight for reproductive justice for Black women and improve Black maternal health.
