Desert drama 🌡🔥 I’ve been looking back at all my favorite shoots from the year and realized I never posted this one as an actual photo post! This shoot was completely unplanned. We were car camping in Death Valley and after sunrise went to go check out Badwater Basin - the lowest point in North America - which had mostly turned to a gross mud. There was still one tiny section of the salt flats that was white, but of course it was right next to the main path with hundreds of tourists walking by, so naturally we made a scene 😜 📸 Photo lesson!! Do. Not. Be. Afraid. Of. Harsh. Light. Back when I only shot landscapes, I sat around all day between sunrise and sunset twiddling my thumbs. Until I realized midday is when most editorial shoots are taken. You just have to learn to use it to your advantage. It’ll make you a better photographer in the long run. For this shoot I made my shadows part of the concept, and made sure my face was mostly pointing up to not get harsh shadows on my face (the sunglasses helped too!) 🔥🕶
