In dreaming up the interiors of this charming Minnesota lake house, designer Anne McDonald (@anne_mcdonald_design) wanted to incorporate some references to her client’s Nordic heritage without veering into Scandi pastiche. “I wanted to get away from that clean, sparse, throw-in-a-sheepskin-and-call-it-a-day thing,” she says. That meant playing with color and pattern. Here in the living room, for example, “We knew we wanted a big, loud floral sofa,” McDonald says. “But we also wanted to rein it in because Scandinavians wouldn’t go over the top with pattern.” They ultimately chose one from @nickeykehoe and upholstered it in a @gpjbaker fabric.
