I grew up in Highland Park. I was on the phone with my best friend from high school yesterday morning when her son walked in freaking out because his friends were texting him about a shooting at the parade. She was so confused. I was so confused. It was in real time. I googled it right away and this is all I could find. And I kept getting a 503 error when I clicked the link. I didn’t know if it was real but I had a feeling it couldn’t be nothing. I called all my family and friends. Most of them didn’t even know about it yet. Everyone I know is fine. Which makes us so lucky. Next time we might not be. When everyone keeps saying “I can’t believe this happened” ... I hate to say it but I actually can believe it. I’m so sorry for everyone I know who experienced this tragic event, or got hurt, or lost someone. I’m so sick of this. You know the fool me once/fool me twice thing? Yeah, now it’s been 309 shootings. So far this year. What are we doing?
