Most single-leg exercises leak energy, through the hips, spine, or supporting leg.
But with the Smith machine reverse pistol squat, there’s no help, no friends, no nada.
The fixed bar path eliminates momentum and compensations, forcing pure vertical force output through the working leg.
No lateral sway.
No push-off from the trail leg.
Just isolated, unilateral strength under full tension.

Start with just bodyweight or even try it as a modified reverse lunge, I think it’s one of the best exercises out there.
