the funny thing is that i’ve walked past this salvaged wallpaper (circa 1800’s!) in the building stairwell for years, imagining those two figures as young lovers on a clandestine rendez-vous. until now, when i took a closer look. reader, they’re birds. does that make me a hopeless romantic or hopelessly myopic?
